Engine Management

What do I do if my engine management light comes on?

The engine management light may come on when you turn on the ignition but should then immediately go back off. It’s connected to your car’s engine control unit (ECU) and is often the first indicator that there’s a problem in one of the many systems within the car.

If the engine management light doesn’t go off, the only thing you can really do to find out what’s causing this is to come into MC Autos. We have state-of-the-art equipment at our workshop in Croydon, which connects to your car’s ECU and helps us to pinpoint exactly what the problem is; that way we can get it sorted for you quickly, and accurately. Once the fault has been repaired, we reset the ECU so that the engine management light goes off.

As a well-established independent garage, MC Autos is proud to be affiliated with several highly respected industry organisations and leading manufacturers. Our IMI accreditation means we have the qualifications to work on highly complex electric and hybrid vehicles. We are delighted to offer Payment Assist (interest-free payment over 4 months), and to be suppliers of Varta vehicle batteries and Shell oils.
