With two technicians qualified to IMI Levels 3 and 4, MC Autos have the capability to work efficiently and safely on the ever-developing range of hybrid and electric vehicles.

Our pristine workshop in Croydon, is fitted with all the essential equipment, such as rubber-tipped tools, which are necessary for the safe operation of repair and maintenance works on these incredibly sophisticated vehicles. We also reserve a special bay dedicated to this purpose.

Types of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles

Here is a short explanation of the different types of hybrid and electric vehicles:

Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV):
This vehicle type uses a battery to store energy and needs to be recharged regularly like a mobile phone or a tablet.
Emissions – Zero emissions and very efficient.
Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV):
This type has an electric motor as well as a fuel engine, but its battery cannot be recharged by external means. HEVs use the engine for travelling long distances and the electric motor for shorter trips, or when temporarily stopped on the road.
Emissions – Greater emissions, and less efficient than BEVs, but with fewer emissions than traditional petrol or diesel vehicles.
Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV):
Plug-in Hybrids have a fuel tank and a battery like a BEV that is rechargeable externally. PHEVs can use the fuel engine when needed, making them more versatile than BEVs.
Emissions – Produces emissions from the fuel engine.

We are safety conscious at all times and fully aware that work on these vehicles should only be carried out by qualified technicians in an isolated area, as we have in our Croydon workshop.
